Lilia Pocitari

A Rising Star in the World of Classical Music

Hailed as “a violinist of rare intensity and refinement” (Hungarian press), Lilia Pocitari is rapidly emerging as one of the most compelling young artists on the international stage. Born in Chișinău, Moldova, into a family of musicians, she has been praised for her “sensitivity, natural authority and brilliant virtuosity” (Bartók World Competition), qualities that continue to captivate audiences and juries alike.

Her breakthrough came in 2023 with a sensational triumph at the Bartók World Competition in Budapest, where she won First Prize as well as the Special Prize for the best performance of a contemporary work, both by unanimous jury decision—an achievement celebrated by the Liszt Academy and reported by The Strad.
In 2025, she has been awarded Second Prize at the Seoul International Music Competition.

Since then, Lilia’s career has taken her to some of Europe’s most prestigious concert halls. She has enchanted audiences with her interpretations of the great concertos by Bartók, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, and Mozart, performing with leading orchestras including the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Concerto Budapest, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, the Wiener Kammerorchester, the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and Hungarian State Opera. She has appeared under the baton of legendary conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Julian Rachlin, András Keller, and János Kovács, bringing to each performance what critics have called “a perfect balance of intellectual clarity and heartfelt passion.”

Equally at home in chamber music, Lilia has shared the stage with some of today’s foremost artists. At the Wiener Konzerthaus she joined Julian Rachlin, Denis Kozhukhin, Sarah McElravy, and Eckart Runge in performances that highlighted her versatility and communicative power. Her artistry has also been refined in masterclasses with great violinists including Pinchas Zukerman, Christian Tetzlaff, Vadim Gluzman, Silvia Marcovici, Shmuel Ashkenazy, and Julian Rachlin.

A winner of more than twenty international competitions, Lilia’s early successes already signaled her exceptional talent: the Grand Prix and EMCY Special Prize at the Balys Dvarionas Competition in Vilnius, the Gold Medal at the International Delphic Games in Astana, and First Prize at the Jeunesses Musicales Competition in Bucharest, among many others. She was also recognized by violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja, who awarded her a special prize at the E. Koka Competition in her native Moldova.

Currently based in Frankfurt, Lilia is pursuing her Konzertexamen at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin with Prof. Ulf Wallin, where she also completed her Master of Music. She previously earned her Bachelor’s degree at the Buchmann–Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv in the class of Ilya Konovalov, Concertmaster of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
